Grant brought home traditional Ghanaian costumes from his mission, so Mommy-O and Dudie wore those. Daddy-O's, I haven't been able to find, and Sissy preferred Tinkerbell this year. The video is of Sissy's Preschool class doing the counting song. It makes me laugh--I don't know why. Sissy is way in the back with the red shirt.
Soccer Tots Matthew and some friends have been going to something called Soccer Tots where they do a variety of fun games just to get some exercise and get the wiggles out. They do anything from kicking the soccer ball to hitting Mommy with swimming noodles to kicking over and picking up cones to running bases, playing catch, blowing bubbles, going down slides, and all within an hour once a week. We've really enjoyed it.
Matthew did a pretty nice job folding these washcloths. I was impressed. I don't know that the nice job is so much a result of Mommy's instruction as it is Matthew's personal need to do things just so. I only showed him how to do it once or twice.
Today we went to the zoo in Panama City Beach. They had a special today where everyone got in for $1. The kids really enjoyed it. Here are a few photos of the day.
Matthew caught a cold from Mommy who probably caught it off of Olivia's preschool germs. He had a fever over the weekend, so we use a tepid washcloth to try to cool him off. Matthew woke up at 5:45 this morning and didn't go back to bed, so by 9:45 this morning he just conked out on the couch in this position.
He's probably saying "cheese" here. He likes to do that. Here's a picture of my siblings and me in Washington that I forgot to post a couple weeks back. We were eating at a restaurant in Woodland called The Oak Tree, as you can see, famous, among other things, for its delicious cinnamon rolls. Olivia dressed up in Daddy's suit jacket. Cheese! Listen for Matthew saying "Come here, Ducky!" Cracks me up. He was also asking for bread after he saw the ducks. You can hear him saying "bread" too.
Olivia just ran into the kitchen where I was and proudly pointed to a red spot on her chin. "Look Mom! I've got a pimple just like you!" She was quite proud. :) Olivia. If only teenagers and adults were as enthusiastic about their pimples as our four-year-old.
Here Matthew is playing with pal Addison Langston, our neighbor and friend. We went out to St. Andrew's State Park--didn't get to see the alligators this time. Don't know if I want to see them or not. I guess it depends on how close they are and how much room there is to run if they should be hungry. :)
Olivia and Mommy had fun a few days ago putting makeup on. I don't know if you can see the eye shadow streaks on her eyes and face, but the lipstick shows up pretty well. Fun times.
O WORLD, I cannot hold thee close enough! Thy winds, thy wide grey skies! Thy mists that roll and rise! Thy woods, this autumn day, that ache and sag And all but cry with colour! That gaunt crag To crush! To lift the lean of that black bluff! World, World, I cannot get thee close enough! Long have I known a glory in it all, But never knew I this; Here such a passion is As stretcheth me apart. Lord, I do fear Thou'st made the world too beautiful this year. My soul is all but out of me,—let fall No burning leaf; prithee, let no bird call.
